Miami: At least five people were killed and several others injured after an Amazon Prime Air cargo plane crashed while landing at Miami International Airport. The aircraft overshot the runway, struck vehicles near the airport and burst into flames, triggering a massive emergency response.

The incident involved Prime Air Flight 7598, which was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Dramatic videos from the crash site showed the Boeing 767 cargo aircraft engulfed in smoke and flames after the impact.

Plane Hit Vehicles After Overshooting Runway

According to officials, the aircraft crossed the runway boundary during landing and crashed into vehicles parked on a nearby road used by airport workers and businesses.

Miami-Dade Fire Chief Ray Jadallah said some victims were trapped inside vehicles after the collision. The pilot and co-pilot were also trapped inside the aircraft following the crash.

Emergency teams rescued people from the wreckage while firefighters battled the flames caused by the impact.

Five Dead, Several Injured; Three Critical

Officials confirmed that five people lost their lives in the crash, while at least five others were injured. Three injured victims were shifted to trauma centres and remain in critical condition.

More than 60 emergency vehicles and nearly 200 firefighters and rescue personnel were deployed for search, rescue and firefighting operations.

NTSB Launches Investigation Into Crash

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the accident. A special team led by NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy will examine the cause of the crash.

Authorities are expected to investigate multiple factors, including aircraft condition, runway operations and weather conditions at the time of landing.

Amazon Expresses Shock Over Tragedy

Amazon confirmed that the aircraft involved in the accident was operating for its Prime Air cargo network. The company said it was working closely with local authorities to understand what happened.

The aircraft was a 32-year-old Boeing 767-300 freighter operated by cargo airline 21 Air.

Airport operations were affected after the crash, with runways temporarily closed as emergency teams carried out rescue and investigation work.
