Islamabad: Pakistani security forces launched a major operation against terrorists in the restive Balochistan province. The army announced on Sunday that at least 92 terrorists were killed in separate encounters. Fifteen Pakistani soldiers also lost their lives in the clashes.

The operation was launched in response to attacks carried out by terrorists linked to ethnic Baloch groups in several locations on Saturday. The terrorists attempted to disrupt peace in areas like Quetta, Gwadar, Panjgur, and Pasni. Security forces and police, on high alert, immediately responded and thwarted the terrorists' plans.

133 Terrorists Killed in Two Days
The army conducted search operations in several locations across Balochistan. During these operations, 92 terrorists, including three suicide bombers, were killed. The terrorists also targeted civilians.

18 civilians, including women, children, and laborers, died in their attacks. The army also reported that 41 Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists were killed in Panjgur and Harnai districts. A total of 133 terrorists have been eliminated in the last two days.

Operations are still underway in the affected areas. The army stated that those responsible for these cowardly attacks and their facilitators will be severely punished. The operation to eradicate terrorism under the National Action Plan will continue at full pace.

Increase in Violence
Violence has significantly increased in Balochistan in recent years. The Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) reported in early January that violence in Balochistan has escalated in recent years, with the number of fatalities in the province rising from 787 to 956 last year, an increase of approximately 22 percent compared to the previous year.

According to the Islamabad-based think tank Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies, terrorist attacks and violence increased by 34 percent across Pakistan in 2025, with 699 terrorist incidents recorded nationwide this year.
