New York: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Kashmir remarks at the United Nations drew a strong response from India, with New Delhi shifting the focus to terrorism and regional security concerns. India’s representative said that Pakistan’s repeated references to Kashmir cannot overlook the issue of cross-border terrorism and the need for accountability on security matters.
During his UN General Assembly address, Sharif again raised the Kashmir issue and called for dialogue on unresolved matters between the two countries. India rejected Pakistan’s position and reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.
India maintained that lasting peace in South Asia requires addressing terrorism and security challenges, arguing that diplomatic discussions cannot be separated from concerns over violence and cross-border threats.
India responded to Pakistan’s remarks through its right of reply at the United Nations, focusing on concerns related to terrorism and security.
New Delhi said that discussions on peace and stability cannot ignore the issue of terrorism. India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of supporting cross-border terrorism, while Islamabad has denied these allegations.

The Kashmir issue has remained one of the most sensitive subjects in India-Pakistan relations for decades.
