India has taken a strong stance on the deteriorating security situation in Bangladesh. The Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Bangladeshi High Commissioner to India and expressed deep concern over the security of the Indian mission.
MEA Raises Alarm Over Threats to Indian Mission in Dhaka
New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India, H.E. Riyaz Hamidullah, today on Wednesday. The Ministry conveyed India's deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in Bangladesh. Serious concern was expressed, in particular, regarding the potential security threat around the Indian mission in Dhaka.
The Ministry of External Affairs drew the High Commissioner's attention to the activities of extremist elements who have declared their intention to create a security crisis around the Indian Embassy in Dhaka. India made it clear that the security of Indian missions and diplomatic premises is of paramount importance and that any laxity in this regard will not be tolerated.

The MEA completely rejected the “false narrative” being spread by extremist organizations regarding recent events in Bangladesh. India stated that it is unfortunate that the interim government of Bangladesh has neither conducted a thorough investigation into these incidents nor shared any concrete evidence with India.
The Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that India and Bangladesh share deep and friendly relations, rooted in India's role in Bangladesh's liberation war. Over the years, development projects and people-to-people contacts between the two countries have been strengthened. India has always stood by the people of Bangladesh.

India emphasized the need to maintain peace and stability in Bangladesh. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India supports free, fair, inclusive, and credible elections, conducted in a peaceful environment. India also expressed its expectation that the interim government would ensure the security of all foreign missions and diplomatic premises in accordance with its diplomatic obligations.
