New York: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raised the Kashmir issue during his address at the United Nations General Assembly, bringing the long-standing dispute between India and Pakistan back into focus at the global forum.
During his speech, Sharif spoke about regional peace, security challenges and the need for dialogue on unresolved issues. He also referred to Kashmir while presenting Pakistan’s position before the international community.
India has consistently rejected Pakistan’s claims on Jammu and Kashmir and maintained that the region is an integral part of the country.
India responded to Pakistan’s remarks through its right of reply at the United Nations, focusing on concerns related to terrorism and security.
New Delhi said that discussions on peace and stability cannot ignore the issue of terrorism. India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of supporting cross-border terrorism, while Islamabad has denied these allegations.
