Lucknow: Senior Samajwadi Party leader and former Uttar Pradesh Leader of Opposition Ram Govind Chaudhary passed away at the age of 73. His demise has left the Samajwadi Party leadership and supporters mourning the loss of a veteran socialist leader.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav paid tribute to Chaudhary and described his death as an “extremely heartbreaking” moment. He remembered him as a leader who devoted his entire life to the socialist movement and worked towards strengthening its ideology.
Sharing his condolences, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Ram Govind Chaudhary was a leader of the socialist movement. He belonged to the generation that worked to establish the identity of socialism in its early days.”

Akhilesh further said that Chaudhary “devoted his entire life to the socialist movement and spent his entire life in struggle.”
The SP president expressed condolences to Chaudhary’s family and paid tribute to his long political journey.
Ram Govind Chaudhary was considered one of the prominent socialist faces in Uttar Pradesh politics. He served as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly for multiple terms and also held the position of Leader of the Opposition from 2017 to 2022.
Known for his association with socialist politics, Chaudhary had worked closely with the Samajwadi Party leadership and remained an important figure in the party’s organisation for several years.

Several political leaders expressed condolences following Chaudhary’s death. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid tribute and described his passing as deeply saddening.
