Tehran: US-Iran Talks Still Not Resolved As Iran Has dismissed claims by US President Donald Trump that an agreement with Tehran could be reached soon, stressing that no final understanding has been achieved between the two sides. The response came after Trump suggested on social media that developments regarding a potential deal would become clear in the near future.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Tehran would not make decisions under external pressure and emphasized that the country acts solely according to its national interests and rights.

Iran Rejects ‘Must’ Language in Diplomacy

Speaking on state television, Baghaei said Iran has long rejected any attempts by foreign governments to dictate its policies. He argued that Western countries cannot use coercive language when dealing with the Islamic Republic and reiterated that Tehran independently determines its diplomatic and strategic decisions.

His remarks were viewed as a direct response to speculation surrounding a possible breakthrough in US-Iran talks between Washington and Tehran.

Trump Signals End to Maritime Restrictions

The exchange followed Trump’s claim that a naval blockade affecting shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz was being lifted. In a social media post, he said vessels delayed by the restrictions could begin returning home, while also suggesting that progress toward a Trump Iran Deal  was underway.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes, carrying a significant portion of global energy exports.

Tehran Questions US Intentions

Baghaei described the US maritime measures as unlawful and said they contradicted international principles related to freedom of navigation. He maintained that the actions should never have been implemented and questioned whether Washington would genuinely reverse the restrictions or merely use the announcement for political messaging.

According to Iranian officials, controls in the Strait of Hormuz were tightened after tensions escalated earlier this year and following US measures targeting Iranian vessels and ports.

Indirect Talks Continue, Nuclear Issue Excluded

Baghaei confirmed that indirect US-Iran Talks  are continuing through mediators. The talks are reportedly focused on ending hostilities, addressing maritime concerns and resolving issues related to Iranian assets overseas.

However, he made clear that Tehran is not currently engaged in negotiations concerning its nuclear programme, drawing a firm distinction between ongoing diplomatic contacts and any potential nuclear discussions.
