Iran has said it will defend itself against the United States and Israel with “all its might,” amid escalating tensions and growing fears of conflict.
Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, made the remarks on Monday, firmly rejecting ceasefire proposals and accusing Washington and Tel Aviv of disregarding international law.

Baghaei stressed that Iran would not engage in negotiations under pressure or threats, asserting that any agreement must be guided by the country’s national security and interests.

He dismissed a reported 15-point proposal from the United States, conveyed through intermediaries, calling it “illogical” and excessive. According to him, negotiations cannot proceed in an environment shaped by ultimatums or threats of military action.
The Iranian spokesperson also criticised what he described as long-standing pressure tactics, saying Iran has faced deadlines and ultimatums for decades without yielding.
He emphasised that defending the country remains the government’s top priority, adding that such external pressure would not influence Iran’s strategic decisions.
The remarks come after renewed warnings from Donald Trump, who said Iran must reach a deal with Washington or face severe consequences.
In recent statements, Trump warned of large-scale military action if negotiations fail, claiming Iran’s infrastructure could be targeted. He also urged Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting potential missile strikes otherwise.
The exchange of strong rhetoric has further heightened tensions in an already volatile region. With both sides maintaining firm positions, prospects for diplomatic engagement appear uncertain.
Iran’s rejection of the US proposal and insistence on sovereignty-driven negotiations signal a continued standoff, raising concerns among global observers about the possibility of further escalation.
