Former UAE Ambassador Says PM Modi Could Help End Iran-Israel Tensions
New Delhi: Former UAE Ambassador to India Hussain Hassan Mirza has said the United Arab Emirates does not want to be drawn into the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.
Speaking in an interview with NDTV, Mirza stressed that the UAE has no reason to become involved in the hostilities and will not allow its territory to be used as a base for attacks by either side. He said Abu Dhabi prefers to maintain neutrality and focus on diplomatic engagement rather than military involvement.

Mirza noted that the UAE occupies a delicate geopolitical position in the region. The country shares close proximity with Iran while also maintaining diplomatic relations with Israel through the Abraham Accords.
Because of this unique position, he said the UAE could potentially play a constructive role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides. According to Mirza, the country can act as a bridge to encourage negotiations aimed at reducing tensions.
During the discussion, Mirza also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s growing influence in the Gulf region. He said the Indian leader commands respect among political leaders, business communities and the public across several Middle Eastern countries.
According to Mirza, this credibility extends to both Israel and Iran, making Modi a potential mediator in the conflict.
He suggested that a direct conversation from the Indian prime minister to leaders in Tehran and Tel Aviv could help ease the situation and potentially bring the crisis closer to resolution.

Meanwhile, the Iran–Israel conflict continues to escalate. Israel reportedly carried out fresh strikes targeting areas in central Iran and infrastructure linked to Hezbollah in Beirut.
The humanitarian impact of the conflict is also increasing. Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations recently said more than 1,300 civilians have been killed and thousands injured during the ongoing hostilities.
Despite diplomatic efforts and leadership changes in Iran, including the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader, tensions in the region remain high.
