Davos: US President Donald Trump repeated his claim of having mediated eight international conflicts during his one-year presidency, including a potential conflict between India and Pakistan. He made the remarks in a special address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, held from January 19 to January 23.

Trump said, “I am now working on this war for one year during which time I settled eight other wars, (including) India-Pakistan. I have settled other wars that were. Vladimir Putin called me… Armenia-Azerbaijan. He said that I can't believe you settled that. They were going on for 35 years.”

‘No one can secure Greenland other than US’: Trump claims at World Economic Forum in Davos

India Denies Mediation Claims

While Trump repeatedly references his role in averting an India-Pakistan conflict, Indian officials have categorically denied any mediation by Washington. Analysts note that Trump has frequently highlighted his involvement in international disputes as part of his foreign policy narrative, often framing it as a personal achievement.

Reiterating Greenland Remarks

Trump also returned to his controversial statements on Greenland. He described the territory as “not land but a massive piece of ice” strategically located between the United States, China, and Russia. While he emphasized Greenland’s importance, he clarified that the US would not use force to assert control over it. His remarks on Greenland have sparked discussions about US strategic priorities and Arctic geopolitics.

Global Diplomacy and US Image

Trump’s address at Davos 2026 combined economic commentary with foreign policy assertions, ranging from conflict resolution to territorial interests. His remarks are likely to generate debate among global leaders, given the unverified nature of some claims, especially concerning India-Pakistan and other conflicts.

Observers noted that the speech reflects Trump’s continued emphasis on projecting the United States as a decisive global actor, both economically and diplomatically, even amid skepticism from international partners.

Looking Ahead

The WEF continues until January 23, with world leaders and business executives expected to discuss pressing economic, security, and climate challenges, amid growing attention on US foreign policy statements.
