New Delhi: The BJP Uttar Pradesh core group has stepped up preparations ahead of the state polls, with Gen Z, women voters and welfare schemes emerging as key focus areas. The leadership also discussed programmes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s September 17 birthday and 25 years of his public service, while reported factional tensions within the UP unit added another layer to the meeting.

The saffron party’s Uttar Pradesh leadership held a key core group meeting on Tuesday as the party intensifies its preparations for the assembly elections expected early next year.

The meeting at the BJP headquarters focused on election strategy, public outreach, government welfare schemes and programmes planned across Uttar Pradesh on September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

The timing of the meeting is significant as the BJP begins sharpening its political strategy for an election where youth voters, women and beneficiaries of government schemes are expected to play an important role.

Senior BJP leaders, including BL Santosh and Vinod Tawde, participated in the discussions, along with Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Choudhary. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the state’s Deputy Chief Ministers also joined the discussions.

Modi Birthday Plans Get Major Focus

The BJP is preparing a series of programmes in Lucknow, Varanasi and other parts of Uttar Pradesh to mark Modi’s birthday on September 17. The celebrations are also being linked to Modi completing 25 years in public service as Chief Minister and Prime Minister.

The party plans to launch Seva Sankalp and good governance campaigns as part of the wider outreach programme. The move is expected to provide the BJP with an opportunity to highlight the welfare and governance work of both the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh.

Gen Z, First Time Voters in BJP focus

One of the key political discussions centred on younger voters. Party leaders are understood to have worked on an outreach strategy targeting Gen Z and first-time voters ahead of the Uttar Pradesh polls.

This voter segment has become increasingly important for political parties because a large number of young voters will be experiencing an assembly election as first-time participants.

The BJP is therefore looking at ways to communicate its welfare, employment, education, technology and governance agenda in a format that connects with younger audiences.

The focus on Gen Z also reflects the changing nature of political communication, with social media, short-form video, digital campaigns and direct voter engagement becoming increasingly important in election campaigns.

Women Voters Also On BJP Radar

Women voters were another major focus during the discussions. The party is working on targeted outreach aimed at strengthening its connection with women beneficiaries of central and state government schemes.

The strategy is expected to focus on communicating the benefits of welfare programmes and highlighting how government policies have affected households. Women voters have become an important electoral constituency in Uttar Pradesh, making direct outreach and beneficiary engagement a significant component of the BJP’s election planning.

Welfare Schemes To Get Fresh Push

The BJP leadership also reviewed ways to increase awareness and reach of welfare schemes implemented by the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government. The party’s strategy is understood to involve taking the benefits of these schemes directly to voters and strengthening the connection between government delivery and political messaging.

The focus on welfare beneficiaries could become particularly important as the BJP seeks to convert government schemes into an electoral advantage. The political challenge will be to ensure that beneficiaries not only know about the schemes but also associate their benefits with the governments implementing them.

Yogi Adityanath, state leadership in strategy meet

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Deputy Chief Ministers participated in the discussions, underlining the importance of the meeting for the state’s political strategy.

Yogi has remained the BJP’s central political face in Uttar Pradesh, while the state organisation is preparing to take the government’s governance and welfare narrative to the grassroots.

The involvement of the central leadership also indicates that the BJP’s UP election preparations are being closely coordinated between the party organisation and the state government.

BRICS Summit adds to Delhi activity

The BJP headquarters has seen heightened political activity over the past two days. The BRICS Summit has also brought Yogi Adityanath and senior Uttar Pradesh ministers to the national capital, adding to the political movement around the party’s central leadership.

With the Uttar Pradesh assembly election approaching, the presence of senior state leaders in Delhi has provided an opportunity for discussions on organisational and political priorities.

BJP Factional Rift Also Discussed

Alongside election preparations and voter outreach, reported factional differences within the Uttar Pradesh BJP also emerged as an issue. The discussion comes amid visible political activity among different sections of the party in the state.

A recent development in Ghaziabad has drawn particular attention. BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar, who represents Loni, organised a panchayat involving members of 36 Gurjar clans in Ghaziabad on Sunday.

Two separate panchayats organised by BJP leaders in the district on the same day have added to speculation about internal differences within the ruling party. The developments have raised questions over whether local organisational disagreements could become a wider challenge for the BJP as it enters the election year.

Why The Ghaziabad Panchayats Matter

The Ghaziabad developments are politically significant because caste networks and community mobilisation can influence electoral calculations in western Uttar Pradesh. The reported differences within sections of the BJP come at a time when the party is attempting to project organisational unity ahead of the Assembly polls.

Community-level meetings and panchayats can become important platforms for leaders to express local grievances, consolidate support and put pressure on the party organisation. For the BJP leadership, the challenge is to ensure that local factional disputes do not undermine the broader election campaign.

BJP Faces Two Track Challenge

The core group discussions point towards a two-track strategy for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. On one side, the party is preparing an aggressive voter outreach programme focused on Gen Z, first-time voters, women and government scheme beneficiaries.

On the other, the leadership must manage internal organisational differences and ensure that local disputes do not damage election preparedness. The ability to combine welfare messaging, youth outreach and organisational discipline could be crucial as the party prepares for the next electoral battle.

The Bigger UP Election Picture

The Uttar Pradesh assembly election will be closely watched because of the state’s importance to national politics. The BJP’s preparations suggest that the party is already moving towards a more targeted campaign, with different voter groups receiving specific outreach strategies.

Young voters could become particularly important because issues such as employment, education, competitive examinations, technology and economic opportunities can strongly influence their political preferences. At the same time, women beneficiaries and welfare recipients remain important pillars of the BJP’s electoral strategy.

The September 17 programmes will provide an early opportunity for the party to combine Modi’s birthday celebrations with its broader governance and welfare messaging. The proposed Seva Sankalp and good governance campaigns could become important components of that outreach.

At the organisational level, the leadership will also have to keep a close watch on factional disputes and community-level political activity in Uttar Pradesh. With the Assembly election approaching, the BJP’s challenge will be to convert its government record and welfare network into sustained voter support while keeping its organisation united on the ground.
