Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir was in stir when police recovered an AK-47 rifle from the locker of a former government doctor. This case not only raised serious concerns for security agencies but also pointed to a potential terrorist network operating in the state.

Weapons Recovered From Former Government Doctor

According to police sources, an AK-47 rifle was recovered from the locker of Adeel Ahmed Rather, who previously worked as a doctor at the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag. Adeel was posted at GMC Anantnag until October 24, 2024, and his native place is Jalgund, Anantnag.

Following this incident, police have registered FIR No. 162/2025 at Nowgam police station. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Police And Investigative Agencies Active

Following the recovery of the AK-47 rifle, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other investigative agencies have taken the matter seriously. Police have detained Adeel Ahmed and begun questioning him. Investigative agencies are attempting to determine how the doctor acquired the weapon and whether it has any links to terrorist organizations.

According to sources, police have also seized the accused's digital devices, mobile phones, and documents to determine any possible terrorist links. The investigation is also looking into whether the doctor was concealing weapons for any terrorist group.
