Amarnath Yatra bus accident (Img: X)
Ganderbal: At least 39 pilgrims who had gone for the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage were injured in a crash where a bus overturned and collided with a building in Kangan, Ganderbal, in Jammu & Kashmir, government officials reported on Tuesday. The pilgrims were traveling back from the sacred Amarnath cave.
According to the reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle while maneuvering through a tight curve at Hariganwan and the vehicle collided with a building near the curve, which was damaged badly due to the collision.

It was reported that but for the collision with the building, the bus would have fallen into the Sindh river and there could have been a much larger disaster. There was no one present in the building at the time of the accident.
Local people along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, ITBP, CRPF, and Indian army personnel launched a rescue mission almost immediately after the event occurred.
All the 39 injured pilgrims have been shifted to nearby hospitals for their treatment. It was stated that most of them sustained minor injuries and are in a stable condition now.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha informed that he had already discussed with the Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal and the health department regarding the condition of the injured devotees.

In an X post, he informed that the injured devotees have been receiving treatment at SKIMS and asked the authorities to provide all kinds of help and medical treatment to them.

"I pray to Lord Shiva for the speedy recovery of the injured devotees," he said.
The annual pilgrimage Amarnath Yatra, which started on July 2 and will end on August 28 this year, saw more than 4.15 lakh devotees visit the holy cave shrine till date.
