New Delhi: Centuries ago, an earthquake shook the earth so deeply that a large part of the world was submerged. This was no ordinary city; it was called the center of the universe.

The famous Greek philosopher Plato, claiming this story to be true, named the city "Atlantis." Plato said that Atlantis was the world's most civilized and beautiful city, located on an island.

Scientists are still searching for the Atlantis described by Plato. Russian archaeologists have claimed to have discovered an entire city in a lake in Kyrgyzstan.

Following this news, the name Atlantis is once again on everyone's lips. This city appears to be as beautiful and prosperous as Atlantis.

Submerged in Lake After Earthquake
Archaeologists from the Russian Academy of Sciences say they have discovered a submerged city in Kyrgyzstan's Issyk Kul Lake. The city was submerged by an earthquake in the 15th century.

It is the world's eighth-deepest lake. Surveys are underway and excavations are ongoing around the lake.

The city discovered by Russian scientists beneath the lake was once extremely prosperous. The city reflects the presence of a large commercial complex. Its buildings were made of baked brick, stone, and wooden beams. Grain and flour mills were also found there.

A large cemetery was discovered in the mysterious city.
According to Russian archaeologists, the city was quite large, with a public building discovered. This building may have served as a mosque, bathhouse, madrasa, or school.

A large cemetery was also found in the city. The burials in these graves were performed according to traditional Islamic rites, with the head facing north and the face facing the Qibla. This is the same direction in which the Muslim community offers prayers.

People abandoned the city before it sank.

Russian archaeologists say this discovery proves that there once existed an ancient city here, which sank into the lake due to an earthquake.

However, most people had abandoned the city before the disaster struck. Later, nomads settled here and established small villages along the lake's shores.

While many consider the Greek philosopher Plato's Atlantis to be a mere fantasy, others argue that it could be true. It's possible that there once existed a prosperous city that no longer exists on Earth.
