Banks will be closed in Goa on December 3.
New Delhi: As December begins with a series of regional observances, customers across India are checking whether banks will remain open tomorrow. According to the Reserve Bank of India holiday calendar, banks will be closed in only one state on December 3. The rest of the country will see normal branch operations.
The only bank holiday scheduled for December 3 is in Goa, where branches will remain closed to mark the Feast of St Francis Xavier. This regional festival is observed annually and is included in the RBI’s list of state specific holidays. While physical branches will stay shut in Goa, all digital services such as ATMs, UPI payments, mobile banking and internet banking will operate without interruption.
Customers in the state are advised to complete branch related work a day earlier or plan it for later in the week to avoid inconvenience.
The last month of the year comes with a total of 18 holidays across various states. These include regional celebrations, cultural observances and nationwide holidays. The month began with closures in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh on December 1 for State Inauguration Day and Indigenous Faith Day.

These services are not affected by state holidays and operate round the clock.

Customers planning to visit a branch can take simple steps to confirm whether their branch is open:
• Check the RBI official holiday calendar by state
• Visit the website of your bank for local notifications
• Use branch locator tools on mobile banking apps
• Contact customer care for real time information
• Look for SMS alerts sent by banks about regional closures
This is especially important in December when multiple regions observe festival related closures on different dates.
As Christmas and New Year approach, many customers are expected to engage in increased transactions and holiday related payments. Planning branch visits early and relying on digital services when possible will help avoid last minute delays.
