Both Houses Adjourned: Anti-Paper Leak Bill Introduced In Lok Sabha
Government on Monday introduced the Bill to penalise paper leak in Lok Sabha amid Opposition protest demanding Home Minister Amit Shah's accountability for the use of pellet guns against student protestors last week. However, both the Houses witnessed disruption and were adjourned thrice during the day and finally for the day.
New Delhi: The government on Monday introduced "the public examinations(prevention of unfair means) Amendment Bill,2026
in Lok Sabha amid continued protest by the Opposition that demanded an apology from the Home Minister Amit Shah. In the Rajya Sabha also, the Opposition targeted Amit Shah on police action and found him accountable. Both houses adjourned three times before they adjourned for the day.
While there is a large consensus over not leaving the students' issue midway, there is also discussion in the INDIA bloc on taking up the Ram Temple donation theft issue in a way that would not brush under the carpet the dominant issues of the day.
However, at the opposition meet this morning, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge suggested highlighting the police action against students and not allowing discussion on the anti-paper leak bill.
The Lower House, which was adjourned after minutes of resuming business at 11 am today, recommenced business from 12 noon when the bill was introduced by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh. The opposition continued sloganeering even when Singh moved the bill in the House. The House was adjourned to 2 pm and again to 5 pm.
Speaker Om Birla told the MPs that discussion on the bill is being held today and urged the members who wants to speakr give their names by 1 pm. He said the House would allot six hours for discussion, and may be further extended if members want.
In the Rajya Sabha also, the opposition was vehement on the issue of police action on student protestors. DMK MP Tiruchi Shiva and Syed Naseer Hussain of the Congress moved separate notices under rule 267 seeking to discuss the issue. The House
adjourned thrice and finally for the day at 5.15 pm.
