Burail Gas Cylinder Explosion in Chandigarh (Img: Internet)
New Delhi: One person. Six others were hurt after many LPG cylinders exploded inside a house in the Burail area of Chandigarh on Monday evening. This was very scary for the people who live in this area. They were so afraid that they ran out of their homes.
The police and fire department came to the spot soon after they heard about the incident. They took the people who were hurt to a hospital by. They also closed off the area so that nothing bad would happen again. People would be safe.
The explosions were so strong that they badly damaged the house where it happened. The houses near by also got damaged. People who live there said that the walls of their homes got cracks because of the explosions. They heard loud noises one after another and then it was very chaotic in the small lanes.
People in charge said that they found at ten LPG cylinders from the spot.. They do not know yet why the cylinders exploded. Some people who live in the area think that someone was filling LPG cylinders illegally in the house. The police have not said if this is true or not.. They have started a case and are looking into it.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurjeet Kaur said that they are looking into everything including if someone was storing LPG cylinders or selling them on the black market.
The people who live in the area are very worried about their safety. They say that filling cylinders illegally is very common, in the Burail area and it is very dangerous. They also say that the lanes are very narrow and it is hard for big vehicles to come in when there is an emergency.
The authorities are trying to figure out what happened before the explosion. The police have promised to take action when they find out who is responsible.
