New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday addressed concerns surrounding discrepancies reported in the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) On Screen Marking (OSM) evaluation system, assuring students that every complaint and query would be addressed.

Large-Scale Digital Evaluation Conducted

The minister highlighted the scale of the evaluation exercise carried out through the digital marking system this year. According to him, nearly 17 lakh students appeared for the examinations, while approximately 98 lakh answer-sheet copies were processed under the OSM mechanism.

He added that each answer sheet consisted of nearly 40 pages, taking the total number of scanned pages evaluated digitally to around 40 crore. The OSM process was implemented by CBSE for the first time on such a large scale.

Officials said all answer sheets remain securely preserved and can be reviewed in case of grievances or verification requests.

CBSE Denies Hacking Allegations

Amid speculation on social media regarding an alleged hacking of the OSM platform, CBSE firmly denied any breach in its evaluation system.

The Board clarified that the claims circulating online were based on misinformation and confusion between a testing portal and the actual live evaluation platform used for assessment.

Board Highlights Security Measures

Reassuring students and parents, the Board stated that strong cybersecurity measures and safeguards remain in place to protect the integrity of the evaluation process.

CBSE also emphasised that grievance redressal systems are operational to ensure transparency and fairness in assessments. The Board maintained that there is no evidence of any security breach affecting students’ examination records or marks.
