Central govt formed teams to assess damage in Himachal, U’khand, Punjab and J&K

New Delhi: The central government has formed inter-ministerial central teams (IMCT) to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rains, floods, cloudbursts and landslides in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials, these teams will assess the situation and review the relief work being carried out by the state governments.

An official statement said that the Home Ministry has formed these teams on the instructions of Home Minister Amit Shah.

The team will visit severely affected districts
The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands with the people of the states affected by natural disasters to reduce their difficulties.

Early next week, the central team will visit the districts which have been severely affected during the current monsoon. An official statement said that an IMCT team has already visited Himachal Pradesh.

The central team will be headed by a Joint Secretary level officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs or National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The team will include senior officials from the Ministries of Expenditure, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Jal Shakti, Power, Road Transport and Highways and Rural Development.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is in touch with the officials of the affected states and teams of NDRF, Army and Air Force are assisting in relief operations as required. During the financial year 2025-26, the Center has released Rs 10,498.80 crore to 24 states in the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) so that they can provide relief assistance to the affected people.
