New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Chhath Puja, describing the festival as a reflection of the “deep unity” between culture, nature, and society.
Speaking in the 127th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister emphasized how devotees from all sections of society come together at ghats, which he termed as the “most beautiful” example of India’s social harmony.

Chhath Puja: A Celebration of Devotion and Harmony
PM Modi noted the vibrant preparations for Chhath Puja across the country. “All of us celebrated Diwali a few days ago, and now a large number of people are busy with Chhath Puja. Thekuas are being made at homes, ghats are being decorated, and the dedication of women devotees preparing for the festival is an inspiration,” he said.
He described the festival as a “Mahaparva” that reflects the deep connection between culture, nature, and society, uniting people from every segment of society at the ghats.
He encouraged citizens, wherever they are in the world, to participate in Chhath Puja celebrations if possible. “I bow down to Chhathi Maiya and extend my greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of Chhath, especially to the people of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Purvanchal,” he added.
Operation Sindoor Brings Pride and Joy
Reflecting on national achievements, PM Modi highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, stating that it has filled every Indian with pride. He said that this year, Diwali celebrations extended to areas that were earlier affected by Maoist terrorism, bringing light to regions once overshadowed by fear.
“People want the complete eradication of the Maoist terror that had jeopardized the future of their children,” the Prime Minister remarked.
He also mentioned the positive response from citizens following his letter to the nation on October 21, which shared his thoughts on the festivals and the country’s achievements. “On this occasion, I had written a letter to all of you sharing my feelings. In response, I have received messages from many citizens,” he said.
Boost to Swadeshi Goods and GST Bachat Utsav
PM Modi highlighted the growing enthusiasm among people during the ongoing GST Bachat Utsav. He observed a significant increase in the purchase of Swadeshi goods in markets across the country. Additionally, he noted that citizens positively responded to his appeal for a 10% reduction in the consumption of edible oil, reflecting the public’s commitment to mindful and sustainable practices.
Mann Ki Baat: Connecting with Every Indian
Mann Ki Baat, launched on October 3, 2014, is PM Modi’s monthly radio programme aimed at connecting with diverse segments of Indian society, including women, youth, and senior citizens.
The programme airs on the last Sunday of every month and is broadcast in 22 Indian languages, 29 dialects, and 11 foreign languages, including French, Chinese, Indonesian, Tibetan, Burmese, Balochi, Arabic, Pashto, Persian, Dari, and Swahili. Over 500 All India Radio centres participate in broadcasting the programme nationwide.
Through Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister continues to engage with citizens on important national issues, encouraging unity, cultural pride, and citizen participation in national initiatives.
