The swearing-in ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, members of the Union Cabinet, and other dignitaries were present. CP Radhakrishnan will now also take over as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, which is an important constitutional responsibility of the Vice President.

This vice presidential election was held after the resignation of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. In the elections held on 9 September, CP Radhakrishnan won by defeating joint opposition candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy.
