New Delhi: India has got a new vice president. CP Radhakrishnan took oath as the 15th Vice President of the country on Friday. This oath was administered to him by President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, members of the Union Cabinet, and other dignitaries were present. CP Radhakrishnan will now also take over as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, which is an important constitutional responsibility of the Vice President.

This vice presidential election was held after the resignation of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. In the elections held on 9 September, CP Radhakrishnan won by defeating joint opposition candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy.

Heavy voting, big victory for NDA

Rajya Sabha Secretary General and Election Officer P.C. Modi said that out of a total of 781 MPs, 767 MPs cast their votes, i.e., 98.2 percent voting took place. This voting was conducted in the Parliament House complex. NDA (National Democratic Alliance) candidate Radhakrishnan received huge support in this election.
