Defence Ministry opens bidding for AMCA Fighter Jet, boosting India’s self-reliance mission

India has taken a major step toward building its first indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighter jet as the Defence Ministry invites leading private sector consortiums to bid for the ambitious AMCA programme.

New Delhi: The Defence Ministry did something on Wednesday. They made the Request for Proposal for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programme. This is a step for India as it tries to build its own fifth-generation fighter aircraft.

The Defence Ministry is doing this to help India get better at making its military aircraft. They want to be able to make their advanced military planes without depending on other countries.

Three Industry Consortiums Shortlisted

Defence officials said that the Request for Proposal was sent to three companies that are working together. These companies are Larsen and Toubro-Bharat Electronics Limited, Tata Advanced Systems and Bharat Forge-BEML. These companies will be very important for making the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft. They will help make the systems for the aircraft.

Major Boost to India’s Defence Self-Reliance

The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programme is one of the defence projects, in India. They are making a stealth fighter jet that will help the Indian Air Force. The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft will have stealth features and it will be able to do a lot of things.

The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft project is also part of India’s goal to make its defence equipment. The government wants India to be able to make its defence products. When the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft is finished it will make India’s air force much stronger. The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft will also help India have technology.
