New Delhi: There is no relief from the suffocating air in Delhi-NCR. A layer of toxic smog hangs over the capital. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average Air Quality Index (AQI) in the capital was recorded at 318 at 7 am on Monday, which falls in the 'very poor' category.
The air quality remained in the 'very poor' category on Sunday as well, and is expected to remain in this zone throughout the week. According to the CPCB data at 4 pm, the 24-hour average Air Quality Index on Sunday was recorded at 308. On Saturday, it was 330 (very poor).
According to CPCB data, today, Monday, the AQI was recorded at 354 in Anand Vihar, 368 in Bawana, 327 in Burari, 321 in Chandni Chowk, 325 in Dwarka, 326 in ITO, 348 in Jahangirpuri, 355 in Mundka, 344 in Narela, 291 in Vivek Vihar, and 346 in Rohini.
In addition, the AQI was recorded at 297 in Noida Sector-62, 308 in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad, 284 in Indirapuram, and 286 in Gurugram Sector-51. According to the CPCB, an AQI reading between 0-50 is considered 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor', and 401-500 'severe'.
