Delhi Schools Open Nursery to Class 1 Admissions for 2026–27

New Delhi: The admission process for Nursery, KG, and Class One in private schools across Delhi officially began today, December 4th. This process is for the academic session 2026-27, and all schools have made both online and offline forms available. Parents can apply for their children until December 27th. The Directorate of Education had already issued clear instructions to all schools to publish details of the admission criteria, point system, and the number of seats available on their websites and the DoE portal. This aims to ensure that parents face no confusion while applying and can understand the process with complete transparency.

Age Limit and Admission Rules

According to the Directorate of Education guidelines, children's age should be between three and four years as of March 31, 2026, for Nursery admission. Similarly, the age limit for KG admission is four to five years, and for Class One, it is five to six years. No flexibility has been allowed regarding the age limit to ensure uniform rules across the city. Furthermore, children already studying in Nursery or KG will be automatically promoted to the next level. New admissions are only open for new students. The registration fee has been fixed at just Rs. 25, and any kind of donation is strictly prohibited.

Documents Required for Application

For Nursery admissions, parents will need to submit several important documents, with the child's birth certificate being the most crucial. A valid address proof is also required, such as a ration card, electricity or water bill, Aadhaar card, passport, or voter ID. Parents' identity documents are also mandatory. In addition, passport-size photographs of the child and parents must be submitted. If the child has a sibling already studying in the same school, proof of that is also required. Similarly, if either parent is an alumnus of the school, a certificate proving this is also needed. A disability certificate is mandatory for children with disabilities.

Important Admission Dates

Admission forms for schools in Delhi became available on December 4th, and the last date for submitting forms is December 27th. The list of all applicants will be released on January 9, 2026. Information regarding points will be published on January 16th. The first list and waiting list for nursery admissions will be declared on January 23, 2026. Objections can be raised from January 24th to February 3rd. The second list will be released on February 9th, and the entire admission process will be completed by March 19, 2026.
