New Delhi: Four schools in Delhi received bomb threats on Thursday morning, creating brief panic among students, teachers, and parents. The targeted institutions included CRPF School in Dwarka Sector 16, Sant Darshan Public School in Najafgarh, Shanti Gyan Niketan near Goyal Dairy, and Andhra School in Prasad Nagar. Delhi Police, along with the Fire Department, conducted thorough searches and confirmed that no explosives were found. Authorities also clarified that similar threats sent to three other schools were later identified as hoaxes.

“We’ve checked all the schools and nothing has been found. There is no need to panic,” said DCP (Central) Devesh Kumar Mahla while addressing the media.

How to Detect Bombs in Schools

Detecting explosives in schools relies heavily on vigilance and preventive measures. Security personnel are trained to identify suspicious objects such as unattended bags, packages, or electronic devices placed in unusual locations. Modern schools increasingly deploy CCTV monitoring, metal detectors at entrances, and bomb-sniffing dogs to enhance safety. Teachers and staff are advised to remain alert for unusual behavior or anonymous threats, which could indicate potential danger. Quick reporting of suspicious items to authorities is crucial for preventing harm.

Steps to Take During a Bomb Threat

In case of a bomb threat, maintaining calm and following established emergency protocols is essential. School authorities should immediately inform local law enforcement and evacuate students to designated safe zones. Using public address systems to instruct orderly evacuation, avoiding the use of mobile phones near the potential threat, and ensuring that all personnel are accounted for are key steps. Students should be taught emergency drills regularly to reduce panic and improve response times during real threats.

Precautions Schools Should Implement

Schools can reduce risk by adopting strict access control measures, including visitor verification, ID checks, and monitoring deliveries. Conducting regular safety drills, educating staff and students about emergency protocols, and maintaining open communication with local police are vital. Installing bomb detection devices and encouraging reporting of suspicious activity can also significantly enhance preparedness. Preventive planning ensures a swift response without disrupting academic schedules unnecessarily.

Why Bomb Threats Occur and Their Increasing Frequency?

Bomb threats are often made as hoaxes to create panic, disrupt normal activities, or express grievances. In some cases, online platforms and anonymous emails are exploited by individuals seeking attention or causing fear. The rising number of such incidents can be attributed to the easy accessibility of digital communication tools and the lack of awareness about legal consequences. Authorities emphasize that repeated threats, even if false, are taken seriously, as they can strain resources and create widespread anxiety among parents and students.
