Delhi on High Alert Ahead of CJP ‘Chalo Sansad’ March; Barricades, Vehicle Checks Tightened Near Parliament

Parliament’s security zone has been fortified ahead of the CJP’s proposed march, with barricades, vehicle checks and additional forces deployed but police say the procession has no permission.

New Delhi: Security has been significantly intensified around Parliament and other sensitive areas of the national capital ahead of the CJP’s proposed “Chalo Sansad” march on Monday.

Multiple layers of barricades have been installed, while Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed around Parliament Street, Central Vista, Jantar Mantar, Connaught Place and adjoining areas. Strict access checks and enhanced surveillance are also in place.

Every vehicle to be checked

According to PTI, vehicles entering the high-security New Delhi district will undergo thorough checking. Police personnel have been directed to maintain round-the-clock vigilance across New Delhi, Central Delhi and North Delhi.

CCTV surveillance and patrolling have also been intensified, while additional forces have been kept on standby to respond to any law-and-order situation.

Police say March has no permission

Delhi Police said no permission had been sought or granted for the proposed procession towards Parliament. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita are in force across the New Delhi district, except at the designated protest site on Jantar Mantar Road, where prior approval is required.

Police officials maintained that no unauthorised procession would be permitted towards Parliament, particularly as the Monsoon Session begins on Monday and security protocols are at their highest level.

Protest planned despite warning

The CJP has announced that its supporters will march towards Parliament on July 20 to press for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and demand broader reforms in the education sector.

The protest group has cited concerns over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, re-examination demands and CBSE online evaluation issues.

The planned march comes after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted from Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital following a deterioration in his health. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke subsequently began an indefinite hunger strike and said the march would proceed as planned.

Heavy security was visible at Jantar Mantar on Monday morning as demonstrators gathered for the proposed march, which coincides with the opening of Parliament’s Monsoon Session.
