Dengue cases increasing in many cities
New Delhi: With the onset of monsoon in the country, cases of mosquito-borne diseases have also started coming. There are reports of a jump in dengue cases from many states in June-July.
The arrival of monsoon with heavy rains in May and intermittent rains in June led to premature onset of dengue and chikungunya cases this year.
According to reports received from Pune hospitals and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), 264 suspected and 12 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported between January and July 2 this year.
123 suspected and four confirmed cases have been reported in June alone. The city has also reported ten cases of chikungunya during the same period.
Apart from Pune, dengue cases have also been reported from the national capital Delhi and many cities of Uttar Pradesh.
In view of the increase in dengue cases since the beginning of monsoon, health experts have advised all people to keep trying to prevent mosquito breeding and to prevent dengue-malaria.
Dengue situation in the capital Delhi
In a conversation with Amar Ujala, Dr. Amarjeet Singh of the Intensive Care Unit in a private hospital in the capital Delhi says, the dengue season has started, although there are no patients of this in the hospital yet. Symptoms similar to dengue were seen in some patients in the OPD, although it has not been confirmed in the investigation.
Every year a large number of people are affected due to dengue and need to be hospitalized. Understanding these risks, all people should start protective measures in advance.
Anyone from children to the elderly can be at risk of dengue-malaria and chikungunya, so it is important to keep following preventive measures.
