New Delhi: Congress MP Manish Tewari said that the Election Commission has no legal right to hold the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). He said therefore it must be stopped.

Manish Tewari was initiating a discussion on Election Reforms in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. He said that the first election reform should be to amend the law of 2023 on the selection of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) as well as Election Commissioners.

Leading the opposition in debate on electoral reforms in Parliament on Tuesday, Manish Tewari attacked on the Election Commission of India (ECI). He questioned its neutrality as well as its legal authority to hold the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.
