Dahod: The country's new and state-of-the-art rail engine factory has been established in Dahod, Gujarat, which could prove to be a new turning point in the history of Indian Railways, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

This factory is not just a construction site, but rather a project that will give a new direction to the future of railways. Named 'D Nine,' meaning Dahod 9000, recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will manufacture high-end electric locomotives with 9,000 horsepower.

This factory could prove to be a game changer for Indian Railways, because engines using the latest technology will be manufactured here in partnership with the private sector.

Power and Technology of the New Engine

The engines being manufactured in the new rail engine factory in Dahod have a power output of 9,000 horsepower, which is a new achievement for Indian Railways.

The special feature of this engine is that it is a single engine with 9,000 horsepower, whereas earlier, Indian Railways achieved 9,000 horsepower by combining two engines of 4,500 horsepower each.

This new engine uses state-of-the-art IGBT propulsion technology, which makes it even more powerful. Apart from this, this locomotive will be mostly used for freight trains.

Features of the Factory

D Nine is comparable to the big factories of Indian Railways, such as Chittaranjan Locomotive Works and Banaras Locomotive Works. But what makes it special is its partnership with the private sector.

This project, initiated at a cost of about ₹21,000 crore, will manufacture 1,200 locomotives over the next 11 years. Its construction was completed in about 20 months, which is a major achievement.

State-of-the-art facilities and technical knowledge have been used in this factory, which will make it one of the best factories in Indian Railways.

Engine Design and Features

The design of this locomotive is also very special. It uses a 6-axle Co-Co bogie system and center pivot connection. Apart from this, this locomotive will be equipped with many modern features, such as a master controller unit, brake controller, walkie-talkie space, torch light holder, and water bottle holder.

It will also have safety systems like Kavach (Train Collision Avoidance System), which will help immediately identify the causes of any accident and help in solving them.

A New Future for Railways

This project symbolizes a significant change for Indian Railways. The rail engine factory in Dahod is not only a technological advancement, but it is also a great example of private-public sector partnership in India.

This factory will help increase the capacity of Indian Railways and will ensure the operation of fast, safe, and efficient trains across the country in the coming years.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian Railways has now started a new chapter beyond its old engine factories. This project to manufacture 1,200 locomotives will make the Indian Railways network even stronger in the coming days.
