Aviation Minister Warns IndiGo as DGCA Issues Show-Cause Notice
New Delhi: In the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, while discussing the operational crisis at IndiGo Airlines, stated that any airline, regardless of its size, will be held accountable for passenger inconvenience. He informed the House that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a show-cause notice to IndiGo. Strict action will be taken against the airline after its response is received.
The Minister assured the House that IndiGo's operations are rapidly returning to normal. He stated that safety standards are being ensured and long-term measures are being taken to improve the airline's network. The situation is gradually stabilizing, and passengers are now receiving better services.
Ram Mohan Naidu said that the government is taking the passengers' difficulties seriously. He stated that IndiGo Airlines is being held accountable for its responsibilities. Measures are also being taken to protect the convenience and dignity of passengers. Long-term reforms are being implemented to prevent such situations in the future.
IndiGo Airlines stated that it has operated over 1,800 flights across its network. The company's on-time performance (OTP) has increased to 91%, indicating a recovery from the disruptions of the previous week. The airline also stated that cancellations have been reduced and passengers were given prior notice of cancelled flights.
Although IndiGo claims that operations are returning to normal, long delays and baggage-related problems continue to challenge passengers at several airports across the country. Many passengers are still facing issues with flight information and baggage handling. The airline has restored contact points at several stations for the convenience of passengers.
