Heavy rain causes flood havoc in Himachal; Panarsa, Takoli, and Nagwain severely affected

Shimla: In Himachal Pradesh, Panarsa, Takoli and Nagwain are severely impacted by the floods caused by heavy rain. In the Himachal Pradesh, district of Mandi heavy rains have once again caused significant damage. Heavy rains fell on several parts of the Aut tehsil last night and this morning causing flash floods and extensive damage.

The areas of Panarsa Takoli and Nagwain are the most severely affected. Much debris washed down to the highway as a result of the intense rain on the hills above. Many homes were flooded with mud and water as a result and the floodwaters washed away a number of cars. Traffic is being disrupted by the debris blocking the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway.

In addition to contributing to the road closure landslides at various locations along the highway have made travel hazardous and challenging. The areas most affected by flash floods are Panarsa Takoli and Nagwain.

In order to assist impacted residents and clear the roads the local government and rescue teams launched relief and rescue efforts right away. One concerning incident happened in the Aut tehsil close to Saranala where a company called F-Cons is constructing a four-lane highway.

The heavy rain caused the nearby stream to turn violent causing complete damage to the office boundary wall of the company. Thankfully the workers were able to flee in time sparing their lives.

Fortunately no deaths have been reported in any of these incidents however there have been substantial material and property losses. Sudden floods were reported today in Panarsa Takoli and Nagwain along the Mandi-Kullu section of the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway according to Sachin Hiremath the assistant superintendent of police for Mandi.

These floods have caused numerous interruptions to highway transportation and communication. However he attested that these incidents have not resulted in any casualties. The intense downpours and unexpected flash floods serve as a reminder of the difficulties the area faces during the monsoon season.

The situation is still being closely watched by authorities who are making every effort to return things to normal as quickly as possible. For their own safety residents are urged to remain vigilant stay off of blocked or hazardous roads and assist rescue personnel.
