New Delhi: Women's participation in the country's security sector is now getting stronger. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has formed its first women commando unit, which is an important step in history. The women soldiers joining this unit are being given special training so that they can face every challenge from airports to other sensitive places.
This training is being conducted at the Regional Training Center (RTC) located in Barwaha, Madhya Pradesh. An eight-week advanced commando course is going on for women here, which is specially designed keeping in mind their needs. The aim of this course is to fully prepare them for responsibilities like Quick Response Team (QRT) and Special Task Force (STF).

Along with this, the ability to take immediate right decisions in difficult situations is also developed.
The number of women in CISF is not only higher than other forces, but they have also set a new record. A major achievement came to light on July 1 when half of the total 8 Inspector General (IG) rank officers of CISF, i.e. 4 posts, are held by women.
According to CISF, there are a total of 16 posts in the IG rank, out of which 8 posts are reserved for IPS officers and the rest 8 for CISF cadre officers. 50% of these 8 CISF cadre posts are now being handled by women.
The list of women officers working at the IG level is as follows:
This achievement reflects the role of women in CISF and their increasing participation.
After completion of training, women commandos will first be deployed at major airports of the country. Later they will also be given responsibilities at Parliament House, Metro and other important security places.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Home Affairs approved the first women battalion of CISF. This battalion is being set up near Delhi, where its women soldiers will be deployed at sensitive places like Parliament House, Indira Gandhi International Airport and Delhi Metro.
Women commandos of CISF get the same salary and facilities as male soldiers. Initially, the salary is about Rs 25,500 basic as per Level-3 pay scale, which includes allowances, medical facilities and other benefits, the total salary reaches Rs 30 to 40 thousand.
