New Delhi: The Indian Government has taken a big decision on the movement of parcels going to the US. The postal department will temporarily stop sending most of the parcels going to the US from 29 August. This is because the US has changed its tariff rules.

Now only gifts up to US $100 will be duty-free. Apart from this, only those international carriers and other parties recognized by US Customs will be able to collect and pay duty on postage. But at the moment the rules for approving this process and charging fees are not clear. Therefore, airlines have said that they will not be able to carry postal parcels going to the US after August 25.

For this reason, the Indian Postal Department has decided to temporarily stop booking all types of parcels to the US from August 25. However, letters, documents and gifts up to $100 will remain out of this ban. Those who have already booked parcels but could not send them can claim back the postage.
The Postal Department has apologized to the customers for the inconvenience caused and said that every effort is being made to resume services to the US as soon as possible.

According to the information of the Ministry of Communications, booking of postal items going to the US will be temporarily closed from August 25, 2025. Only those letters, documents and gifts up to $100 will be sent for which clarification will be received from the US Customs and Postal Service. The ministry has said that as soon as permission is received, these services will be resumed.
