IndiGo Flight Chaos: Passengers Stranded Across India
New Delhi: IndiGo Airlines' operational difficulties have created a difficult situation for air travelers across the country. Passengers at major airports like Delhi, Kerala, Goa, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad had to wait for their flights for hours. More than 150 flights were cancelled at Delhi Airport on Wednesday, forcing passengers to spend time waiting at the terminal to reach their destinations.
Long queues were seen at Thiruvananthapuram Airport in Kerala on Thursday due to the cancellation of Indigo flights. Four other flights were delayed, impacting normal operations. At Goa's Dabolim Airport, passengers were also unable to receive information about flight cancellations or delays. Passengers reported being denied food, accommodation, and other amenities, further complicating the situation.

The situation in the capital, Delhi, was even more dire. After 150 flights were canceled in a single day, passengers waited at the terminal. Many passengers were seen shouting slogans against the airline. At Hyderabad Airport, 37 flights were canceled on Thursday, forcing passengers to wait overnight without any information or arrangements. Passengers also took to social media to express their displeasure with the airline.
The situation for passengers at airports like Ahmedabad and Silchar was even more difficult. Passengers reported not receiving timely information about flight cancellations, lacking food and accommodation, and finding assistance from IndiGo staff difficult. Many passengers were not even given clear information about their connecting flights.
IndiGo flight disruptions continue for fourth day; Leaving airports crowded with stranded flyers
Civil Aviation Minister K. Ramamohan Naidu has directed IndiGo to inform passengers in advance of potential flight cancellations. The minister expressed displeasure over the airline's new flight fare policy and operational difficulties. He urged that operations be normalized immediately and airfares not increase due to the current situation.
Given passenger dissatisfaction, the airline will have to take steps to improve the situation. Experts say that such problems can be prevented only by minimizing disruptions to flight operations and providing timely information to passengers. For now, passengers are being advised to remain vigilant during air travel and seek regular updates from the airline.
