Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police has attached a double-storeyed residential property in Baramulla’s Sheeri area under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with a terror-related case. The action has put the spotlight on the ongoing security crackdown against alleged terror support networks and properties suspected of being used for facilitating unlawful activities.
The attached property was reportedly linked to accused Aijaz Ahmad Ganie and was identified during the investigation as a place allegedly used for providing shelter and logistical support to terrorists. Authorities have initiated the action under legal provisions aimed at disrupting infrastructure supporting terror activities.
According to officials, the property is a residential house located at Namblan village in the Sheeri area of Baramulla district.
The attachment was carried out under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, following approval from the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir.
The police action was linked to FIR No. 37/2026 registered at Sheeri Police Station under various sections of the Arms Act and UAPA.
The case includes Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act along with Sections 13, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Baramulla Police said that during the course of investigation, the residential property was found prima facie to have been used for providing shelter and logistical assistance to terrorists.
Investigators are examining the alleged role of the property in supporting terror-related activities, including possible movement, communication and operational assistance.
The action is part of a broader strategy adopted by security agencies to target not only active terrorists but also the support structures that help sustain terror networks.
After the attachment order, authorities displayed a public notice at the property.
The notice prohibits any sale, transfer, lease, mortgage or creation of third-party rights over the attached premises.
The restriction prevents any attempt to alter ownership or transfer control of the property during the legal proceedings.
Officials said such measures are taken to ensure that properties allegedly connected with unlawful activities remain under legal control until further action is decided.
The property attachment was carried out after approval from Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police.
The approval was issued through Order No. 2695 of 2026 dated September 22.
Police officials said the action followed the required legal process under the UAPA framework and was based on findings collected during the investigation.
The authorities have maintained that further proceedings will depend on evidence and the outcome of the ongoing probe.
The Baramulla action comes amid intensified counter-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir.
Security agencies have been focusing on dismantling terror ecosystems by targeting alleged hideouts, logistical channels, financial networks and support structures.
Officials have repeatedly highlighted that disrupting assistance networks is crucial to preventing terrorist activities and maintaining security in sensitive areas.
The latest action reflects the continued use of legal and investigative measures against assets allegedly connected with terror-related cases.
Security agencies have also increased surveillance and search operations in parts of the Jammu region following recent terror-related developments.
The Doda-Udhampur-Kathua belt has remained under heightened security monitoring, with forces carrying out intelligence-based operations, area domination exercises and searches in forest and border areas. Authorities have said these operations are aimed at identifying possible threats and preventing attempts by terrorist groups to rebuild their networks.
The investigation into FIR No. 37/2026 will continue as authorities examine evidence related to the alleged terror support network. Further legal action against individuals or additional properties may follow if investigators establish more links during the probe.
Baramulla Police has reiterated that action against terror-related assets will continue within the framework of law to prevent the misuse of properties for unlawful activities.
