New Delhi: The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced a significant convenience for employees. Transferring your PF balance from your old employer to your new employer's updated account upon changing jobs has become easier than ever. Previously, employees faced many difficulties transferring their PF accounts, but with the new rules, the process will become simpler and more transparent.

PF Transfer Rules: What Changes?

The new PF transfer rules were announced in a circular issued by the Ministry of Labor on 18 September. The most significant change is that EPFO members can now download their PF Transfer Certificate (Annexure K) directly from the EPFO's member portal in PDF format. Previously, this document was shared only between PF offices and was provided to members only upon request.

The Ministry of Labor stated, "In order to enhance member convenience and transparency, Annexure K has now been made available for download on the Member Portal."

What is Annexure K?

Annexure K is an important document issued by the EPFO when an employee changes jobs and transfers their PF account from their old account to a new one. This document contains information such as the employee's PF balance along with interest, service history, job details, joining and exit dates, and employment details.

According to the EPFO, "Annexure K contains member details, PF balance including interest, service history, joining and exit dates, and employment details. This document is required for the transfer process."

Differences In The Process

Previously, when employees changed jobs, they would transfer their PF through Form 13 online. After the transfer, the former PF office would issue an Annexure K, which was sent to the new PF office. This process was often plagued by delays and lack of transparency.

Under the new rules, members can now track the status of their transfer application online, making the entire process transparent and reliable. Members will also be able to easily verify that their PF balance and service period have been correctly updated in the new account.

How to download Annexure K?

  • Login to the EPFO Member Portal
  • Go to Online Services
  • Select 'Track Claim Status'
  • Click on 'Download Annexure K' from the available options
  • The document will be downloaded in PDF format. Keep it safe for future reference
