New Delhi: President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) visited India on Monday for a nearly three-hour official trip, accepting an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit underscored the growing strategic, economic, and cultural partnership between the two nations.

Bilateral Trade Milestone and Economic Cooperation

During the visit, the leaders celebrated bilateral trade crossing the $100 billion mark, expressing confidence in doubling this figure by 2032. The UAE approved the opening of offices for two UAE-based companies in Gujarat’s GIFT City, highlighting steps toward deeper economic integration. Both sides emphasized industrial collaboration and investment opportunities, strengthening the foundation for sustained trade growth.

Defence Collaboration and Security Partnership

Discussions also focused on defence cooperation, including expanding industrial partnerships and special forces training programs. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to regional peace and stability, condemning cross-border terrorism and discussing developments in Yemen and Gaza. This visit further solidified India-UAE ties in strategic and security domains.

Cultural Initiatives: House of India in Abu Dhabi

A landmark cultural initiative announced during the visit is the plan to establish a House of India in Abu Dhabi, featuring a state-of-the-art museum showcasing India’s rich heritage. Prime Minister Modi also acknowledged the UAE’s role in protecting the welfare of the largest Indian diaspora abroad, highlighting people-to-people connections as a pillar of bilateral relations.

Advanced Nuclear and Technology Cooperation

The two countries agreed to collaborate in advanced nuclear technologies, including the development and operation of large nuclear reactors, small modular reactors, and nuclear safety systems. India and UAE also discussed joint initiatives in Artificial Intelligence, supercomputing clusters, data centres, and the concept of digital or data embassies, reflecting forward-looking technological cooperation.

Strategic Alignment and Future Engagements

President Sheikh Mohamed expressed support for India’s BRICS chairmanship, reinforcing the strategic alignment between the two nations. The UAE will also participate at a high level in India’s Artificial Intelligence Summit in February 2026, indicating continued collaboration in emerging technology and digital infrastructure.

President Sheikh Mohamed landed in Delhi at 4:30 pm and was received by PM Modi at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, where extensive discussions took place covering trade, defence, technology, and cultural cooperation, strengthening the India-UAE partnership across multiple fronts.
