The monsoon session of Parliament began today on a stormy note without transacting any official business and both the Houses witnessed half a dozen adjournments with Opposition tried to raise several public issues.

New Delhi: Monsoon session of the Parliament began today on a turbulent note with repeated disturbances and adjournments in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha as opposition members raised slogans over the alleged NEET paper leak, alleged irregularities in donations to the Ram temple, and other issues, preventing any kind of business.

After witnessing six adjournments, the Rajya Sabha adjourned for Tuesday, while the Lok Sabha also witnessed equal adjournments before adjourning for tomorrow. Sources say Tuesday also panadamonium likely to prevail with Opposition demanding discussion as well as action on several issues.

The day's proceedings began with obituary references in the Lok Sabha, while in the Rajya Sabha it was the oath of affirmation to new members followed by obituaries. Soon,

Lok Sabha demanding answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was present in the House. IN Rajya Sabha, Leader of the Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge spoke strongly in favour of
Students protest at Jantar Mantar and condemned lathicharge on them.

In Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla's appeal to the opposition did not yield, with members shouting that the government is trying to beat them down and suppress the issues. In the same manner, the Lok Sabha witnessed several adjournments.

The Disruptions came despite repeated appeals by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier in the day for political parties to ensure a productive and constructive Monsoon session. Addressing media in Parliament House, Modi called upon the MPs to engage in meaningful debates.

The Monsoon session, scheduled to continue until August 13, is expected to witness an intense confrontation between the government and opposition. The opposition has indicated that it will seek discussion on several issues, including NEET paper leak, Inflation, price rise, unemployment, and others.

Meanwhile, the Government has lined up an ambitious legislative agenda, including the introduction and consideration of several important Bills across both the Houses. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju has expressed hope all parties would cooperate to ensure smooth functioning.
