A major train accident occurred on the Bihar–Jharkhand border late Saturday night when eight wagons of a freight train derailed on the Jasidih–Jhajha rail section. Three wagons fell into a river near a bridge, disrupting rail traffic on both tracks. No casualties were reported.

Patna: A major train accident occurred on the Bihar-Jharkhand border on Saturday night, causing panic among railway authorities. Eight wagons of a goods train derailed suddenly at around 11:25 PM on the Jasidih-Jhajha main railway line. The accident took place near the bridge over the Badua River, near Telwa Bazar Halt, while the goods train was traveling from Jasidih towards Jhajha.
The severity of the accident can be gauged from the fact that three of the eight derailed wagons fell directly into the Badua River below the bridge. According to eyewitnesses, the wagons derailed one after another with a loud noise, causing panic in the surrounding area. The bridge and the surrounding area were also partially damaged.

Despite this serious accident, the good news is that there was no loss of life or property. The train driver and other railway personnel are reported to be safe. The railway administration has confirmed that no passenger train was present in the vicinity at the time of the incident, thus averting a major disaster.
Following the accident, train operations on both the up and down lines of the Jasidih-Jhajha section were completely suspended. Several passenger and express trains had to be stopped at various stations along the route, while preparations are being made to divert some trains via alternative routes. Passengers are facing considerable inconvenience due to this sudden disruption.
Upon receiving information about the incident, senior railway officials, technical experts, and accident relief teams reached the spot. Work to remove the derailed wagons is being carried out rapidly with the help of heavy cranes and machinery. Repair work on the damaged track and bridge sections has also begun. The entire area has been sealed off for security reasons.

According to the railway administration, the preliminary investigation suggests a technical fault in the track or other mechanical reasons as the possible cause of the accident. However, the actual cause of the accident will only be known after the detailed investigation report is released. The railways have ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter.
Railway officials say that repair work may take time, due to which train traffic on this section is likely to be affected for several hours. Passengers are advised to check the train status before traveling and rely only on official information.
