Meerut: India's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) "NaMo Bharat Corridor" achieved another major success on Monday. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) successfully completed the schedule-based trial run of trains on the 82-km long route from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram (Meerut), reports Dynamite News correspondent.
In this historic trial, the "NaMo Bharat Train" covered this distance in less than an hour despite stopping at every station.
This trial became an excellent example not only of speed but also of technical efficiency, safety and system coordination. Trains running at a maximum operating speed of about 160 kmph proved that India has now taken a big leap towards high-speed, safe and timely public transport.
For the first time in the world, "LTE backbone based ETCS Level-3 hybrid signaling system" has been used on this corridor. Which works in complete coordination with Platform Screen Doors (PSD). This state-of-the-art technology has given a new dimension to the speed, control and safety of trains.
During this trial run, Meerut Metro trains were also run along with Namo Bharat trains. This will be India's first metro service, which will operate on the infrastructure of the "Regional Rail Network". There will be 13 stations in the 23 km long Meerut Metro section. Of which 18 km is elevated and 5 km is underground.
55 km route (from Ghaziabad to Duhai Depot) is already operational for passengers. In the remaining parts,"4.5 km from Sarai Kale Khan to New Ashok Nagar" in Delhi and "23 km from Meerut South to Modipuram" in Meerut, trials and finishing work are going on rapidly.
This is the country's first regional rapid rail. Which connects major cities like Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut at high-speed. This will not only save travel time, but will also be beneficial for the environment as it is a green transport system.
This model established by NCRTC is an inspiration for rapid rail projects to be built in other parts of the country in future. NCRTC has indicated that after the final preparations, passenger services will be started on the entire 82 km route very soon. This will provide a fast, convenient and state-of-the-art connectivity to the entire NCR.
