Chandigarh: The Punjab Police on Wednesday claimed to have unearthed an espionage network linked to yet another YouTuber and vlogger.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, in an X post said that the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali unearthed this network linked to Jasbir Singh, a resident of Village Mahlan, Rupnagar, who operates a YouTube channel called 'Jaan Mahal'.
According to police, Jasbir Singh has been found associated with Pakistani intelligence operative Shakir
alias Jutt Randhawa, who is part of a terror-linked espionage network.
Police said Jasbir Singh maintained close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra (arrested on the charges of spying) and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and an expelled Pak High Commission official.
According to the police, investigations have revealed that Jasbir Singh attended the Pakistan
National Day event in Delhi on Danish’s invitation, where he met Pakistani Army officers and vloggers. He travelled to Pakistan on three occasions in 2020, 2021, 2024, and his electronic devices contained multiple Pakistan-based numbers, now under detailed forensic scrutiny.
Police said that after Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Jasbir attempted to erase all traces of his communication with these PIOs to avoid detection.
"An FIR has been registered at SSOC, Mohali and investigations are on," DGP said.
Earlier Incident
The Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested a person from Tarn Taran on the charges of spying for Pakistan and sharing sensitive information with Pakistan intelligence operatives and ISI about Operation Sindoor, police said.
DGP Statement
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that action was taken on the basis of information received from the police's counter-intelligence wing.
Accused Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan allegedly had been in contact with the Pakistan ISI and Gopal Singh Chawla, sharing sensitive information concerning Army movements during Operation Sindhoor.
Sharing Classified Details
Police said that investigations have revealed that he was engaged in sharing classified details, including troop deployment and strategic locations, posing a threat to national security.
Gagandeep Singh had been in touch with Pakistan-based Khalistani supporter Gopal Singh Chawla for the past five years, through whom he was introduced to the Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). He also received payments from PIOs via Indianchannels, police said.
Mobile Phone Recovered
Police said that they have recovered a mobile phone containing information that the accused shared with the PIOs, as well as the details of over 20 ISI contacts.
"Thorough financial and technical investigations are underway to trace other linkages and establish the full scope of this espionage network," DGP said, adding an FIR has been registered under the Official Secrets Act at PS City, Tarn Taran, and further investigation was in progress.
Spy Arrested In Delhi
Last week in the National Capital, a CRPF soldier was arrested for spying for Pakistan against hefty payments. The arrested jawan had come in contact with an operative of Pakistan’s intelligence agency through social media.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan from Delhi in a major action.
There are serious allegations against the jawan that he was sending sensitive and intelligence information related to India to Pakistan. He used social media platforms for this, and he was also getting a hefty amount in return.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, this arrest has come at a time when, after 'Operation Sindoor,' the network spying for Pakistani agencies across the country is being continuously tightened.
According to NIA sources, the arrested jawan came in contact with an operative of Pakistan's intelligence agency through social media.
Gradually he started sharing information related to the security of the country. All these activities came under the purview of digital tracking, and it was revealed in the NIA investigation.
