The Quad group comprises India, United States, Japan, and Australia. These four democratic countries work together to promote peace, stability, and free navigation in the Indo-Pacific region.

It is worth noting that a Quad summit was planned to be held in India this year, but due to US President Donald Trump's busy schedule and political instability in Japan, the event was postponed.

Albanese Expressed Hope At Press Conference

Australian Prime Minister Albanese said at a press conference on Sunday during the ASEAN summit, "The Quad is an important forum that connects Australia, the United States, Japan, and India. I hope it will meet in the first quarter of next year."

He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the meeting and that the meeting in India will give a new direction to cooperation among the Quad countries.

Regarding the delay in the summit, Albanese said that the international summit season is currently "very busy," and US President Trump's schedule is already very busy.

Trump's Asia Tour Continues

US President Donald Trump is currently on a three-nation tour of Asia.

After attending the ASEAN summit in Malaysia, he departed for Japan and will travel to South Korea. In South Korea, he will participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Tensions in India-US Relations

Earlier in August, media reports claimed that Trump had canceled his visit to India this year. According to reports, tensions have escalated in relations between Trump and Modi.

The tensions began when the US imposed import duties of up to 50 percent on Indian goods and a 25 percent tax on the purchase of Russian oil. India described this move as unfair, unjust, and unacceptable.

New Year Important for Quad

Experts believe that if the Quad meeting is held in India next year, it will be a diplomatic success for India and will further strengthen India's role in the Indo-Pacific region.

Furthermore, this meeting could give new dimensions to economic and security cooperation among the four democracies.
