Hosabale Backs SIR, Calls For Dialogue With Youth

The RSS defended the Special Intensive revision(SIR) of electoral rolls, questioning the opposition's objections to the exercise, even as it alleged that some internal and external "anarchic forces" were attempting to incite the country's youth to create unrest.

Political change in a democracy must come through polls, and not through violence or disruption, Hosabale pointed out and urged the government to address the aspirations and concerns of young people through dialogue. His remarks came against the backdrop of recent Gen-Z protests, including demonstrations at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

The general secretary observed that "The Sangh insists on having a dialogue with young people. Every generation of young people has a feeling against the establishment. There are ways to channel that feeling. But to misuse it,
pursue political self-interest through it, try to divide society, or resort to violence is absolutely wrong. We oppose this."

He also questioned the political opposition to the SIR, saying electoral rolls needed periodic correction to remove the names of deceased voters, duplicate entries and people who were no longer eligible to vote.

On the issue of reservation, he said affirmative action should continue until it resulted in social and educational change.
