New Delhi: Several flights operated by Aer Lingus, Wizz Air and LOT Polish Airlines were diverted or subjected to security checks across Europe on Thursday following bomb threats. The incidents mark the second wave of such alerts in the region this week, raising fresh concerns over aviation security.
One of the first reported incidents involved an Aer Lingus Airbus A320 operating between Dublin and Rome. The aircraft was diverted to the Évreux air base in France after a bomb alert was received.

According to the French Prime Minister’s office, the aircraft landed safely with 151 passengers and six crew members on board. Military bomb disposal teams were deployed to inspect the plane, while authorities closely monitored the situation.
The aircraft was reportedly approaching Paris when it changed course and made several turns before heading towards Évreux, according to flight-tracking information cited by the Associated Press.
Another incident involved a Wizz Air flight travelling from Milan to Warsaw. The aircraft was diverted to Vienna after a threat was received during the journey, an airline spokesperson confirmed, as reported by AP.
Meanwhile, a LOT Polish Airlines flight from Warsaw to Paris was stopped while taxiing and moved to a parking area for security checks. Bulgarian authorities later confirmed that no hazardous items were discovered.
The disruption extended to Bulgaria, where three additional aircraft were reportedly forced to land following bomb threats.
According to the reports, two aircraft travelling from Copenhagen and Madrid landed in Sofia, while another flight arriving from London landed in Plovdiv.

Authorities initiated security procedures following the alerts. Further details about the incidents were not immediately available.
Thursday’s developments came just two days after a series of bomb threats affected around 10 flights across Europe on Tuesday.
Airlines including LOT Polish Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, Wizz Air and Ryanair were among those affected. The alerts triggered emergency inspections, flight diversions and temporary disruption at airports, including a brief closure of Warsaw airport.
Ryanair reportedly faced the highest number of alerts, with four of its flights targeted. London’s Metropolitan Police also confirmed receiving threats involving four aircraft scheduled to arrive at or depart from Heathrow Airport.
Despite extensive searches, no explosives were discovered. All affected aircraft landed safely, and no injuries were reported.
