Satya Niketan building collapse case takes a new turn as owner’s son Mahesh Bansal names two PG operators who leased the property. Police have arrested one operator while the probe continues.

New Delhi: The investigation into the deadly Satya Niketan building collapse has taken a major turn after Delhi Police arrested accused Sanoj and PG operator Sudhanshu in connection with the case that claimed seven lives.

The arrests came as police intensified their probe into the responsibility behind the collapse of the five-storey building near Delhi University’s South Campus, which was being used as a boys’ paying guest accommodation.

Owner’s Son Reveals Names Of PG Operators

During police interrogation, building owner Hariram Bansal’s son Mahesh Bansal reportedly revealed that the property had been leased to two business partners Shubham Tyagi and Sudhanshu  in August 2025.

According to police sources, the duo was operating the PG facility under the name ‘Hostel Daze’.

Investigators are now examining the role of the PG operators, including their responsibilities related to maintenance, repairs and safety arrangements at the property.

Sudhanshu Arrested, Probe Into Sanoj’s Role Continues

Delhi Police has arrested PG operator Sudhanshu along with accused Sanoj as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police are questioning the accused to find out whether any negligence or violations contributed to the collapse.

The probe is also focusing on how the old structure was being used as a PG despite alleged safety concerns.

Seven People Died In Satya Niketan Collapse

The tragic incident took place on Sunday afternoon when the five-storey building in Satya Niketan collapsed while repair work was underway.

The collapse resulted in the death of seven people, while several others were injured. Rescue teams continued operations for nearly 27 hours to search through the debris.

Police sources said the decades-old building had serious structural issues, including water seepage problems in the basement.

Owner’s Family Also Under Police Scanner

Earlier, police arrested Hariram Gupta, his wife Urmila Gupta and their son Mahesh Gupta in connection with the case.

While Hariram was initially believed to be the owner, police said documents revealed that Urmila Gupta was the registered owner of the property. Hariram and Mahesh were allegedly involved in managing the PG operations.

MCD Takes Action After Tragedy

Following the collapse, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) suspended South Zone Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar and four engineers pending disciplinary proceedings.

The authorities are now investigating whether negligence, poor maintenance or structural issues played a role in the deadly collapse.
