New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the timeline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in six states, granting voters additional time to submit claims and objections. The latest decision marks the third extension of deadlines for the voter list revision exercise.

According to the revised schedule, final electoral rolls in Haryana, Maharashtra, Telangana , Andhra Pradesh, and Nagaland will be published on November 30, 2026. Delhi will follow a separate schedule, with its final voter list expected on December 22, 2026.

The decision comes two days after the Supreme Court took a firm position on deadlines associated with the electoral roll revision process. The extensions were granted following requests from the respective Chief Electoral Officers.

Revised SIR Deadlines Across States

In Maharashtra, the deadline for submitting claims and objections has been extended from October 26 to November 13. Authorities will now have until November 25 to issue notices and complete the disposal of claims and objections. The draft electoral roll for the state was published on August 31.

Andhra Pradesh and Haryana have also received additional time to complete the process. The disposal of claims and objections in both states must now be completed by November 20, while the final electoral rolls will be released on November 30.

Delhi Gets a Separate Revision Timeline

Delhi has been given a longer extension under the revised schedule. The deadline for filing claims and objections has moved from October 30 to November 25.

Similarly, the deadline for disposing of claims has been shifted from November 30 to December 15. The final electoral roll for the national capital is now scheduled for publication on December 22.

EC Directs States to Raise Public Awareness

The Election Commission has instructed the concerned authorities to ensure widespread publicity of the revised schedule. The objective is to give eligible voters adequate time to register their names, correct existing details or raise objections against entries in the electoral rolls.

Voters can access the Election Commission's Voters' Service Portal for information about the SIR process, application procedures and other voter-related services.

The revised deadlines are intended to provide additional time for completing the electoral roll revision process while ensuring eligible citizens get an opportunity to verify their voter details.
