
Sonam Wangchuk hunger strike
New Delhi: Activist Sonam Wangchuk was taken to hospital after his health deteriorated following hunger strike and the protesters have been removed from the protest site Jantar Mantar.
Heavy police forces have been deployed at the spot.

New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police posted on X that "As per orders of High Court and on expert medical advise due to the deteriorating health condition of Sonam Wangchuk, he has been shifted to the hospital for essential medical care. While complying with the orders of High Court the protestors tried to create obstruction, in which slight commotion ensued, however police took maximum restrain and undertook the exercise safely. We request the protestors at Jantar Mantar to peacefully vacate the place at the earliest."

Concerns over his condition had been growing as the protest continued. Following a decline in his health, Wangchuk was shifted from the protest venue for medical attention. Further details regarding his current condition and medical assessment were awaited.
Tensions escalated after Cockroach Janta Party leader Abhijeet Dipke alleged that police personnel forcibly removed him and other protesters from Jantar Mantar.

The protesters accused the authorities of attempting to suppress the agitation, while police maintained that Wangchuk was moved to hospital because of serious concerns over his health.
Wangchuk also appealed to people across the country to participate in CJP’s proposed “Chalo Sansad” march on July 20.
He said the scale of public participation would determine the strength and future direction of the movement. Supporters are now awaiting an official update on his medical condition and further announcements regarding the planned march.
