Srinagar: Two Pakistani militants linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group were killed during a security operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Wednesday.
The militants were identified as Saddam and Mustafa, according to police officials. The operation, named 'Soan', was conducted as part of ongoing counter-terror efforts in the region.
Following the operation, security forces recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the slain militants. According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the recovered items included an AK assault rifle with four magazines, an M4 assault rifle with three magazines, a Glock pistol with two magazines and four grenades.
J&K Police shared details of the operation through a post on X, stating that the two deceased militants were Pakistani JeM terrorists. The police also confirmed the recovery of arms and ammunition from the encounter site.
Security forces are continuing searches in the area to ensure that no other militants are hiding nearby. Officials further said that security measures are being maintained as part of the counter-terror operation.
The operation comes amid continued efforts by security agencies to track and neutralise terror networks operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
