Haldwani: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar experienced a sudden health issue on Wednesday during his official visit to Uttarakhand, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The incident occurred after he attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Kumaun University in Haldwani.

After stepping off the stage, the Vice President engaged in a brief, emotional interaction with former MP Dr Mahendra Singh Pal. Moments later, he felt uncomfortable.

Medical personnel on-site responded immediately, administering first aid. He was then transported to Raj Bhavan in Nainital for further observation. According to official sources, his condition is now stable.

Three Day Visit

Vice President Dhankhar arrived in Uttarakhand earlier in the day for a scheduled three-day visit from June 25 to June 27. He was received at Haldwani Airport by Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), along with State Minister Rekha Arya and Member of Parliament Ajay Bhatt.

Dhankhar was set to address students and faculty members at Kumaun University on June 25. On June 27, he is scheduled to attend the 156th Founders' Day celebration of Sherwood College in Nainital as the Chief Guest. During this trip, he is also expected to spend time at Raj Bhavan.

Earlier this week, the Vice President paid tribute to Syama Prasad Mukherjee, recalling his legacy and contributions to the nation. Speaking on the abrogation of Article 370, Dhankhar remarked, "Article 370 and the draconian Article 35A deprived people of their fundamental rights for decades. Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and Home Minister Amit Shah’s resolve, this historical injustice was ended on August 5, 2019. The Supreme Court upheld this decision on December 11, 2023."

As of now, no major changes have been announced to the Vice President’s scheduled engagements, though his medical condition is being closely monitored.
