New Delhi: The monsoon continues to remain active across several parts of India, bringing another spell of intense rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for 15 states, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds reaching up to 65 kmph in some areas.
The weather system is expected to impact northern, central and western parts of the country, with Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and several other states likely to witness changing conditions.
The national capital is expected to see a shift in weather conditions after a brief dry period. While Delhi may experience relatively clear weather on September 10, clouds are likely to return from September 11.
According to the forecast, a fresh spell of heavy rain may begin from September 12 and continue for the next two days. Another round of intense showers is expected around September 15, with temperatures likely to remain between 27 and 35 degrees Celsius.
Several districts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness cloudy skies, heavy showers and lightning activity. Areas including Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Noida and Jaunpur are expected to remain under weather watch.
In Bihar, an orange alert has been issued for districts including Patna, Gopalganj, Siwan, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Saran and East Champaran. Officials have warned of heavy rainfall accompanied by winds reaching around 50 kmph.
Madhya Pradesh is expected to witness some of the strongest monsoon activity. Cities including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Chhindwara and Narmadapuram are among areas likely to receive very heavy rainfall.
The IMD has also predicted strong winds of around 60 kmph in parts of the state. Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are also expected to experience changing weather conditions.
